MyVoice Look and Play video board

This is a communication board whose vocabulary happens to be videos. A child who cannot yet ask for a favourite song by name can still ask for it here: the tiles are the request, and choosing one is answered straight away.

Open Set up videos to search YouTube or paste a YouTube, Vimeo, or direct video-file link. The board fills in the title and picture for you, and you can replace the tile name with a shorter, more familiar label. Your board is saved in this browser without an account.

Videos play continuously by default. For cause-and-effect learning, choose a board-wide pause time such as 5 or 10 seconds, then override individual videos when needed. When the time is up, the sound eases out, the picture pauses on a large Select to keep watching target, and selecting it starts the next interval from the same place. For a child who is just learning that a press makes it go, set At the pause to Whole video is the button: then any tap, look or switch press continues. Each video can also be given a Starts at time, so a favourite song begins at its first line instead of its intro.

A switch press while a video is playing never leaves it. On a timed turn it does nothing, because the press that counts is the one at the pause; with continuous play it pauses the video. Set up videos keeps a short note of the session for the grown-up: turns taken, how long the child usually takes to respond, and the most chosen video. It is not saved or sent anywhere.

Choose a video by tapping it, by pressing a switch when the scan reaches it, or — with Eye-Gaze turned on in the top bar — simply by looking at it and holding steady. Dwell time, scan speed and tile size are all in the app's Settings panel.

While a video is playing, watching the picture does not operate the provider's controls. The board pauses when you leave the activity or hide the browser, and it waits for a deliberate selection before continuing. Choose another stays reachable by touch, switch scanning, keyboard, and eye-gaze.
